Election complaint filed against exwrestling execNov 2 2009 4:06PM
Associated Press HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) The head of the Connecticut Democrats has filed an elections complaint against Republican Linda McMahon, claiming the former wrestling executive received corporate help for her U.S. Senate race. Nancy DiNardo says World Wrestling Entertainment removed several videos on the Internet site YouTube to help McMahon's campaign. She says the company removed videos of wrestlers engaging in simulated rape and other offensive acts, while leaving up thousands of less explicit ones. WWE says the videos were removed because they were copyrighted. DiNardo says removing the videos amounted to a prohibited in-kind corporate contribution to McMahon's campaign. McMahon's spokesman Ed Patru says that's a baseless accusation and the campaign has complied with all federal election rules. McMahon is seeking the GOP nomination and the chance to challenge Democratic Sen. Chris Dodd next year. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) APNP 11-02-09 1556CST |
