Minot experienced a taste of the exotic today with Desert Silk, an evening of Middle Eastern food, music, and Dance. The event featured a variety events and over forty different appetizers and drinks from across Northern Africa and the Mediterranian. Bellydancers from across North Dakota and Canada were hoping to not only give others a chance to experience different cultures, but to also raise money for a good cause...

One hundred percent of the proceeds are going to support the Domestic Violence Crisis Center of Minot. Beth Jones, a belly dance instructor with the Minot Dance Company, says that this is a family event that promotes diversity and artistic expression.

Beth Jones, Bellydance Instructor - "Tonight we're having an event called Desert Silk, and this event is to showcase middle eastern dance and bellydance. This is open to the public, this is something so that people can come and join us, see different cultures so they can see something from outside of what you would normally see around here."
