Ron Paul: Racist Anti-Semite

I’m about as politically incorrect as they come.  Facts are facts, and I’ll talk about them no matter who it ticks off, but saying that 95% of black men are criminals (not to mention talking about Jewish “Zionist” conspiracies) is just plain B.S.:

Paul reported on gang crime in Los Angeles and commented, “If you have ever been robbed by a black teen-aged male, you know how unbelievably fleet-footed they can be.”

“Given the inefficiencies of what D.C. laughingly calls the `criminal justice system,’ I think we can safely assume that 95 percent of the black males in that city are semi-criminal or entirely criminal,” Paul said

Paul also wrote that although “we are constantly told that it is evil to be afraid of black men, it is hardly irrational. Black men commit murders, rapes, robberies, muggings and burglaries all out of proportion to their numbers.”

Stating that lobbying groups who seek special favors and handouts are evil, Paul wrote, “By far the most powerful lobby in Washington of the bad sort is the Israeli government” and that the goal of the Zionist movement is to stifle criticism.

I’ve never been a Ron Paul fan, mostly because of his ideas for foreign policies, but this is the first I’ve heard of these comments, and I find them reprehensible

Do blacks commit crimes out of proportion to their population demographic?  That’s true.  But saying that ninety-five percent of them are partly or entirely criminals?

Give me a break

Rep. Paul is trying to say that the words above weren’t written by him (but rather someone else helping him with his newsletter), but c’mon.  Let’s be serious.  If they appeared in his newsletter attributed to him then he’s responsible

An apology, not an excuse, is what’s needed

You shouldn't judge him as racist for stating facts, or for adding his personal opinions on top of those facts. I am not prejudice myself and I would probably say the same thing as he did. I have lived in the projects when I was younger, and from that experience I believe that there is at least some truth to what he is saying. Does stating demographical statistics now justify someone to be labeled as racist in todays world? You could just as easily state other facts like 1 in every 18 Americans are in prison today, and 1 in every 15 illegal hispanic immigrants are criminals that belong in prison. Would this constitutute as a racist comment against hispanic immigrants?

Also regarding AIPAC, it 'is' the most influential PAC in Washington and this is a well known danger to our nation. Do a little investigation on AIPAC yourself and you may see the truth there as well. Do political opinions regarding foriegn policy justify calling someone anti-semite now? Or is calling someone an anti-semite one of the methods used to stifle criticism as Dr. Paul said above?

My point here is that I think you are warping the topics here to present only your 'opinion' instead of the 'facts' that these comments are made from.

Posted by Nigel Watt on May 22 2007 3:49PM - He has taken responsibility for the statements but they were not written by him. His voting record and anything else he's ever said are opposed to racism.

Posted by Duane Mitchell on May 22 2007 4:56PM - This is a hit piece by the Gloabalist because they have nothing on Ron Paul so they dug up some comments that are out of context. The fact remains he supports the individual rights of all Americans and has proven this point many times, when he voted against any legislature that infringed upon the citizens rights (UN-Patriot act, Militatry Commision act of 2006. Which includes Jewish people black people and all other people called Americans. We are all Americans. Not Hiphenated-Americans. And as far as Israel is concerned we need to worry about our own borders and stay out of their affairs including giving them or anyone else money. I think it's time we worry about ourselves. The tactic's applied for the last forty years by the globalist of control and dominate have proven to be a fatalist approach. We at one time were the most respected now we are the most hated. We should represent what is good and right about government but instead we are the lauging stock because our leaders have filled there pockets with the corporate dollars and no longer work for the people. Ron Paul seeks to turn this Country around and I am sure it is our last chance for such an event, so I hope and pray that this true conservative christian will end up in the White House.
And everyone's due diligence is required to make sure the corporate paid for main stream media doesn't ruin it for us. Do your own research and believe no one including me. I am just a trucker why should you believe anything I say. Look it up yourselve's. Thanks, Duane.

Posted by Matt on Jun 18 2007 11:48AM - These quotes are old and have been explained. And why do so many people think that Zionist=Jew? Wake up.

Posted by Mark on Jul 12 2007 11:07AM - Your argument is flawed. The support of a bigot doesn't make someone a bigot any more than the support of a Hispanic makes you Hispanic.

In any case, I'm a minority and I'm for Ron Paul. I met him in 1999 when I was living in Austin, and I can assure you that he was just as warm and friendly to me as he was to anyone else at the event. Most other politicians, on the other hand, put on this fake "oh I'd better be super sugary sweet to this guy" attitude. Ron Paul just treated everyone as an individual.

I find it very disturbing that you would try to squelch the one guy that would end the drug prohibition. Right now, over 2 million people are in prison in America (about equal to Russia and China's combined total), and most prisoners are non-violent non-white drug offenders. He also wants to end the war in Iraq that's getting all our brothers killed. I'm beginning to wonder if it is you that is the closet racist.

Posted by Jon on Oct 5 2007 4:51PM - It's a shame the original blogger, Rob, hadn't done even the most basic research on this issue. If he did, he would have found that Dr. Paul had hired someone to write his newsletters. Apparently he hired a bad apple.

Of course, going to the original blog post, the site is a Pajamas Media network blogger. This is the same site that recently banned Paul from their straw polls accusing Paul supporters of flooding them. I wouldn't accuse anyone of collusion, but it doesn't look innocent.

Posted by Simon on Oct 6 2007 11:20PM - Trying to label anyone who opposes a US alliance with Israel as anti-semite is really sickening. Let's not get intimidated by neoconservative zionists. It's time to stand up for Americans' interests. Ron Paul is the an honest politician who is doing just that.

Posted by lloooll on Oct 7 2007 7:00PM - What is it that makes kids so special?
kids are known for telling the truth.
"The emperor is naked"

All kids are racists!

Posted by Noah on Nov 17 2007 3:36AM - I do not know much about the comments and i have been able to find any on the internet about the original newsletter. With that being said, from the little knowledge that I have been able to gather about this man I feel that he honest, and a straight shooter. If he was really a racist or did not like black people he would come out and say it. He does not mind having unpopular view and making unpopular stances. Look at
how he voted against the patriot act. A very unpopular thing to do at the time. That takes gut and courage I feel that I nor most of America had that courage. I can honestly say that he is a better man than I. If elected he has made clear exactly what he will do, and has the voting record to prove it. You may argue or disagree with his message, but I do not feel that you or anyone else can stop it. It is like a force of mother nature.
I think this how Ron Paul feels about individual rights and freedoms. That is what Ron Paul has stated in so many words. That we do not get are rights from being a part of a group: blacks, whites, or homosexual, but that we get our rights from being individuals. Another words you have the same rights that I have regardless of who you are. This powerful concept is something I know he has agreed with and is something that he will support.
On the subject of racism, it is wrong and as a white person I am sorry for what my country men do and continue to do to black people. I know its wrong and I will not make excuses for it. With that being said I feel that Ron Paul is not apart of that movement.
In conclusion freedom is a great thing, but its how we choose to use it or not use that will count in the end.
I hope that my children will get to see and experience the bold and brave experiment call America. God Bless.

i wasn't racist when i was a kid.

Posted by Republicae on Dec 19 2007 8:38PM - Strange that a "Racist" would say something like this:

"A nation that once prided itself on a sense of rugged individualism has become uncomfortably obsessed with racial group identities.

The collectivist mindset is at the heart of racism.

Government as an institution is particularly ill-suited to combat bigotry. Bigotry at its essence is a problem of the heart, and we cannot change people's hearts by passing more laws and regulations.

It is the federal government that most divides us by race, class, religion, and gender. Through its taxes, restrictive regulations, corporate subsidies, racial set-asides, and welfare programs, government plays far too large a role in determining who succeeds and who fails. Government "benevolence" crowds out genuine goodwill by institutionalizing group thinking, thus making each group suspicious that others are receiving more of the government loot. This leads to resentment and hostility among us.

Racism is simply an ugly form of collectivism, the mindset that views humans strictly as members of groups rather than as individuals. Racists believe that all individuals who share superficial physical characteristics are alike: as collectivists, racists think only in terms of groups. By encouraging Americans to adopt a group mentality, the advocates of so-called "diversity" actually perpetuate racism.

The true antidote to racism is liberty. Liberty means having a limited, constitutional government devoted to the protection of individual rights rather than group claims. Liberty means free-market capitalism, which rewards individual achievement and competence - not skin color, gender, or ethnicity.

In a free society, every citizen gains a sense of himself as an individual, rather than developing a group or victim mentality. This leads to a sense of individual responsibility and personal pride, making skin color irrelevant. Racism will endure until we stop thinking in terms of groups and begin thinking in terms of individual liberty." Ron Paul

It is also odd that Ron Paul has stated that Rosa Parks was a heroine for her bravery against the forces of racism. He also said that he held both Dr. Martin Luther King and Gandhi in the highest of esteem for their work toward liberty and freedom. Don't you think that is odd for a racist to say?

So, the question is why would someone, like the author of this article deliberately attempt to stain the reputation of Dr. Paul in such a manner?

I would say that such an author has lost all credibility in terms of journalistic validity, wouldn't you?

Posted by Nuclear Boy on Dec 23 2007 6:18PM - I can't stand Ron Paul as much as any other conservative twit...but being critical of the Israeli government and the lobbying power of the AIPAC does not make you anti-Jewish. Now, Ron Paul can very well be an anti-semite, but I don't think your quote actually proves this. There would need to be more critical quotes against "Jewish people", not against a Jewish government.

Posted by atlasdaddy on Jan 3 2008 7:56PM - republicae, you said it. Right on!

Posted by collective on Jan 8 2008 3:20PM - To say that large governments always bring about racism while the free market encourages equality is ludicrous. Please see the Balkans post Tito. Please see the "equality" in Mexico, Sipan, etc, since their economic liberalization.

Posted by Michael Shanklin on Jan 12 2008 6:15AM - Mexico has not liberalized economically!!! What are you talking about collective? Freedom and liberty for every individual guarantees the strongest form of equality ever seen by man. Others who use race as propaganda are the main ones who encourage discrimmination! Ron Paul is not and has never been racist!

Posted by B.W. on Jan 15 2008 12:10AM - This whole thing is just a smear campaign.. Don't fall for the lies!

Ron Paul 08!!!

Posted by voiceofthepeople on Jan 15 2008 12:26AM - The Neocon Republic is yellow dog trash journalism. I’m still not supporting their “preferred” candidate, Rudy Giuliani. Before they told us Ross Perot was Hitler. Noone died from the pie charts. Noone will die from any newsletter’s insensitive comments. Ron Paul took moral responsibility years and years ago now it is BREAKING NEWS. What is he supposed to stab himself in the back, bowing to the PC establishment in the process? I know we are supposed to judge a true patriot’s entire life on this. Another primary is coming up. ATTACK NOW. It is time to attack the only Constitutional Repubican in the race. QUICK. Your boomerang journalism does not change the fact that Dr. Ron Paul saves people from miserable lives by defending the Constitution. He always has. All Presidents are supposed to swear to uphold the Constitution, remember? Memo to the Neocons. Ron Paul is a faithful husband of 50 years. He delivered 4,000 babies, was a Vietnam veteran flight surgeon and has been a tireless civil servant. Still is. The Austin NAACP President believes he is a fair guy when he defends the civil liberties and Constitutional rights of those in his community. Time for the political opportunists to exit the glass house and put the stones down.
