KXMCTV Minot A former Olympic speed skater says a dollar can go a long way...especially when your dollar joins those from thousands of others. Every year, Norwegian TV hosts a gala to raise money for a chosen cause and this year, Hostfest goers will get a chance to participate. Johann Olav Koss, a four-time Olympic Gold Medalist, explained this year's fundraiser is geared toward the fight against AIDS. He says if everyone would put a dollar toward the "Tenderheart Campaign," a lot of money could be raised for medicine to help people with the disease. Raffle and donation boxes will be situated throughout the Hostfest halls to gather donations. There will even be a wind chamber set up for participants to grab handfuls of money for the cause. Koss says his heart especially goes out to the children who suffer from this devastating disease... (Johann Olav Koss, Olympic Medalist) "Of the 40 million infected, the world has managed to give medicines to only 3-point-five million. And medicines exist. Today, anit-retro-viral-drugs are accessible and affordable for people. Though, today, we only still currently give only ten percent of eligibility of this." Koss is also in Minot to receive the Scandinavian-American Hall of Fame's Humanitarian Award.
