Eye on Health - Doctor RetentionMar 29 2009 11:34PM
KXMCTV Minot Trying to keep good workers on staff moving the company forward. It is no different for a hospital trying to keep doctors on staff or find new medical experts to practice there. More on those efforts in this week's Eye on Health. Here is Perry Olson. "We are never fully staffed." And because of that...Tom Warsocki keeps very busy working on finding people to work! "In excess of 50 percent of my time is spent on recuiting or retention." And that continues to be a tough job! Finding those who want to work as much as doctors do and do so here is not easy. "Physicians now days want that home-work balance. And that is what they are looking for." What they are also looking for is a nice paycheck and in North Dakota that is usually the case... "Actually I would say that Trinity is above average nationally. That is not just Trinity, that is health systems in North Dakota." So what might keep doctors from the north...hmm...what do you think? And yes, while weather is an issue... "...right now the economy in ND is an advantage for us. We've had a few come in from different areas of the US because their business is way down there." It is so bad...some doctors say their patients simply are not paying for the service provided... "We don't have that issue. Our economic climate is something that we can advertise nationally." That is helping keep good doctors practicing in state. With your Eye on Health, Perry Olson, KX News. ROLL COMMERCIALS AFTER SPONSOR TAG
