Lisbon, Portugal (AP) Health officials in Portugal say the 97-year-old mother of Sen. John McCain has spent the night in a Lisbon hospital after a fall.

The Sao Jose hospital says Roberta McCain is in stable condition and is undergoing tests.

The hospital said in a written statement Friday that Roberta McCain was admitted Thursday evening. It provided no further information.

Portuguese news channel TVI24 cited unnamed sources saying she bumped her head in a fall in the street.

A clerk at the two-star Hotel Borges in downtown Lisbon said Roberta McCain checked in there alone on Thursday afternoon and was due to leave Friday.
