An NDSU graduate and former Bison Football star has been named the university's interim president.

The State Board of Higher education has chosen Richard Hanson to replace Joseph Chapman, who is resigning.

Hanson is the president of Waldorf College in Iowa.

He is a native of Hillsboro and was an associate vice president at NDSU in the 1990s.

University system Chancellor William Goetz says he would like Hanson to start December First, but he is still negotiating that issue.
