Still plenty of MN apples this fallOct 25 2009 5:15AM
Associated Press ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) It's not too late to find late-season apples at Minnesota orchards. September's warm temperatures cut into the number of early-season apple shoppers. Then the cool, wet fall kept many apple-lovers at home. As a result, sales have been hurt at many orchards. But the Minnesota Department of Agriculture says there's still many traditional fall apples available at orchards, such as Haralson, Regent, Fireside also marketed as Connell Red and Honeygold. While most Minnesota orchards are open only through the end of October, many stay open for apple sales into November. But call ahead to check on hours of operation.
