Acta back in the game...Clear skies for ALCS...Crabtree in action...Oct 25 2009 2:56PM
Associated Press CLEVELAND (AP) Three months after being fired as Washington's manager, Manny Acta has signed a three-year deal to take over on the Cleveland Indians' bench. Acta went 158-and-252 in 2 1-2 seasons with the Nationals, who dumped him after a 21-and-61 start to the 2009 season. NEW YORK (AP) The rain that caused last night's postponement has moved on and Game 6 of the American League Championship Series is set for tonight in New York. The Yankees hold a 3-2 advantage over the L.A. Angels in the best-of-seven showdown for the pennant. If Game 7 is needed, it will be played tomorrow night in the Bronx. PHILADELPHIA (AP) National League champion Philadelphia awaits the winner of the ALCS between the Yankees and Angeles. Phillies skipper Charlie Manuel announced today that he'll start left-hander Cliff Lee in Wednesday's World Series opener, regardless of the opponent. PHILADELPHIA (AP) Philadelphia transit workers have voted overwhelmingly to authorize a walkout less than a week before the Phillies play their first home game of the 2009 Fall Classic. A Transit Agency spokesman says he hopes a deal can be reached in the next few days. The Phillies will host games three and four of the World Series next weekend, and, if necessary, game five on Monday. HOUSTON (AP) San Francisco 49ers first-round draft pick Michael Crabtree started today's game at Houston. The former Texas Tech star receiver was taken with the 10th overall pick but didn't sign a six-year contract with the Niners until Oct. 7 after a 71-day holdout.
