Judge's office in Eureka broken into and torched

KALISPELL, Mont. (AP) Authorities are investigating after a judge's office in Eureka was broken into and set ablaze over the weekend.

Lincoln County Commissioner Marianne Roose says someone broke a window in the back door of the North Lincoln County Annex building and set fire to a desk in Justice of the Peace Stormy Langston's office Saturday night. The fire was confined to the office, but the rest of the building was smoke-damaged.

Langston says a Eureka police officer called her at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday to tell her about the blaze.

The judge says other offices in the annex building were broken into, but nothing appears to have been taken.

The Lincoln County Sheriff's office, which is handling the investigation, could not be reached for comment.

Authorities are investigating a string of burglaries that happened at about the same time as the fire.
