The Minot State women's Basketball team will kick off its season Friday night as they host top rated and defending national champion Morningside, Iowa.

The Lady Beavers are looking to start off the season on the right foot but know it'll be a huge test for the team. It's been two straight years that the Lady Beavers have been closing to knocking off the Mustangs and the team is hoping that the 3rd time can be the charm.

Sheila Green-Gerding, MSU women's basketball coach:I think we're excited. We still got four kids on the team that we're on the elite 8 team a couple years ago and still feel the heartbreak in that game and then last year a game we had in our hands, had them down by 18 and let it slip away and just feel like we could've got that one back as well so we're excited about the challenge, we're excited to get the season started and open at home.

Mackenzie Mack, senior:They only lost a couple people last year but their team still is awesome and I think it'll be a definite, it'll definitely be a good game to watch and play and we'll learn from it and see where we have to grow as a team from this game.

ON CAM

If playing the number one ranked team wasn't enough, the teams meet again in a couple of weeks.
