CAL POLY-N DAKOTA North Dakota rallies to upset Cal Poly 31-17 Grand Forks, N.D. (AP) North Dakota rallied from a 10-point deficit with 24 unanswered points to upset Cal Poly 31-17 on Saturday.

Tony Smith threw touchdown passes of 10 and 30 yards to Jon Hall to lift Cal Poly to a 17-7 lead early in the second quarter.

But the Sioux climbed within three points with 40 seconds left in the half on an 8-yard scoring pass from backup quarterback Brent Goska to Ryan Konrath.

North Dakota (4-4, 2-1 Great West) outscored the Mustangs 17-0 in the second half. Mitch Sutton ran for touchdowns of 10 and 5 yards, and Brandon Hellevang kicked a 47-yard field goal.

Cal Poly (4-4, 1-1) had only 100 of its 265 yards total offense after taking the 17-7 lead early in the second quarter.

N DAKOTA ST-W ILLINOIS North Dakota State edges Western Illinois 14-7 MACOMB, Ill. (AP) Pat Paschall scored on a 24-yard run with 3:10 left to lead North Dakota State to a 14-7 victory over Western Illinois on Saturday.

The touchdown, Paschall's second of the game, came after Western Illinois' Lito Senatus had caught a 9-yard pass from Wil Lunt to tie the game with 11:13 to go.

Paschall also scored on a 17-yard run in the first quarter that was set up by Shamen Washington's 65-yard return of the opening kickoff.

Paschall rushed 19 times for 111 yards for North Dakota State (2-7, 1-5 Missouri Valley). Dre Gibbs led the Leathernecks (1-7, 0-5) with 109 yards on 24 carries.

Jose Mohler was 7 of 15 for 90 yards the Bison. Lunt went 11 of 19 for 113 yards and an interception in the end zone that killed a first-quarter drive.

Western Illinois lost three fumbles in wet, muddy conditions.

South Dakota STATE-YOUNGSTOWN STATE South Dakota State defeats Youngstown State 17-3 YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) Kyle Minett rushed for 87 yards and scored two second-half touchdowns to lead South Dakota State to a 17-3 victory over Youngstown State on Saturday.

The Jackrabbits (7-1, 6-0 Missouri Valley Conference) are off to their best start since 1963 and held an opponent without a touchdown for the third time this season. South Dakota State entered the game giving up an average of 12.6 points a game, fifth in the Football Championship Subdivision.

Leading 10-3, the Jackrabbits took control of the game with a nine-play, 66-yard drive that was capped by Minett's 1-yard run for a 17-3 lead with 4:51 left in the game.

Minett's 5-yard run gave South Dakota State a 10-3 lead with 11:11 left in the third quarter.

Ryan Crawford was 19-for-28 for 178 yards for the Jackrabbits.

Brandon Summers was 19-for-29 for 181 yards for Youngstown State (4-4, 2-3).

S DAKOTA-N COLORADO Northern Colorado defeats South Dakota 21-17 GREELEY, Colo. (AP) Bryan Waggener threw for 281 yards and two touchdowns as Northern Colorado rallied to beat South Dakota 21-17 Saturday.

Andre Harris scored on a 1-yard touchdown run to cap a 13-play, 89-yard drive with 5:20 left for the Bears.

South Dakota (3-5) trailed 14-0 with 13:16 left in the first half before rallying. Noah Shepard threw for one touchdown and ran for another to give the Coyotes (3-3) a 17-14 lead early in the third quarter.

Pinned at their own 11, Waggener directed the game-winning drive, which was aided by a 15-yard pass-interference penalty on South Dakota that gave the Bears a first down at the Coyotes' 26.

Harris scored five plays later to give Northern Colorado the lead.
