Man held without bond in Huron slayingNov 3 2009 11:54AM
Associated Press HURON, S.D. (AP) A judge on Tuesday ordered a 24-year-old man held without bond stemming from the death of another man on Sunday in Huron. Circuit Judge Jon Erickson granted a prosecution motion that Edwin Thompson be held without bond in the Beadle County Jail. No new court date has been set. Thompson has asked for a court-appointed lawyer. Police responded Sunday to a report of two people fighting at an assisted-living facility for people with mental illness and found 21-year-old Ryan Treadway lying behind the building. He was pronounced dead at a hospital. Deputy State's Attorney Jeff Banks said Thompson returned to the community two weeks ago and was in trouble with the law again. He said Thompson had three assault charges between 2004 and 2008 in North Dakota and that he could be a risk to the community.
