Government ends testimony in Rodriguez trial

Fargo, N.D. (AP) Prosecutors wrapped up their case against Alfonso Rodriguez Junior by calling a forensic psychiatrist who said Rodriguez has an anxiety disorder and sexual fantasies.

Dr. Steven Pitt also said Rodriguez has shown that he can make choices.

Pitt was the last witness to testify in the penalty phase in the trial. The 53-year-old Crookston, Minnesota, man was convicted earlier of kidnapping resulting in the death of Dru Sjodin (shuh-DEEN') of Pequot (PEE'-kwaht) Lakes, Minnesota. Now jurors must decide whether he'll be put to death or spend the rest of his life in prison.

Jurors are expected to begin deliberations tomorrow after closing arguments. U-S District Judge Ralph Erickson has warned lawyers not to get too flamboyant in their closing arguments.
