The former tire shop worker from Minnesota will step into the cage on Saturday night to face the mixed martial arts version of Mike Tyson Fedor Emelianenko (fay-dohr eh-mee-lee-uh-NENK'-oh). Rogers is a decided underdog along the lines of Douglas, who shocked Tyson back in 1990. Rogers is 10-0 with nine knockouts. But Emelianenko is widely considered the best fighter in the world. This will be his debut for Strikeforce and the fight in Chicago will be televised nationally on CBS. As late as April, Rogers was changing tires in a local Sam's Club. He says he is not intimidated by Emelianenko and hopes to use his big size advantage to register the big upset. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) APNP 11-04-09 1240CST |
