Collecting Jeans for CharityNov 4 2009 7:25PM
KXMCTV Minot That's the idea behind an effort to collect old pairs of jeans from students and families at Minot's Central Campus. The school's Key Club organized the drive, asking everyone to find old jeans and bring them in. The club, which works on various community projects throughout the school year, is part of a national effort to collect 100,000 pairs of jeans. (Amanda Aasen, CC Key Club) "The jeans...you bring in jeans and it makes insulation for houses." (You're kidding?) "I'm serious" (So what are they going to do with these?) "They shred 'em." The club collected about 300 pairs of jeans - about 60% of what's needed to insulate one home. Nationwide, the goal is to collect enough denim to insulate 200 homes.
