Former DSU Coach Remembers Players

Dickinson Press reporter Dustin Monke wrote:

"Its perhaps the darkest day in Dickinson State history"...and its hard to argue.

As we told you earlier in the broadcast,

three members of the DSU Softball team have been found dead.

A vehicle containing Kyrstin Gemar, Afton Williamson and Ashley Neufeld was located today in a stock pond.

They had been missing since Sunday Night.

The Blue Hawks reached the NAIA tournament last Spring,

and Guy Fridley is their former coach.

Tonight, we spoke with him on the phone.

"(Guy Fridley:) They were kids that you grew to love and one of my biggest faults as a coach, if its a fault, is that I grew to be close to these kids and loved them as one of my own and that is kind of where we are at...at this point. You think of them as your own and it is something tough to swallow. "

Fridley is currently the Principal and Athletic Director at South Heart High School.

He left DSU this past Summer...after guiding the Hawks to their third straight national tournament. watch the video | save this article / add to your favorites list
