Hundreds of mourners gather to celebrate the lives of three DSU students who tradgically lost their lives earlier this week.

Reporter Kate Schell was in Dickinson and talked with students as they headed into the Memorial Service.

It's a day filled with mixed emotions-as family, friends and complete strangers pay their respects to Kyrstin Gemar, Ashley Neufeld and Afton Williamson

(Matt Lee/DSU Student) "You know everyone is just kind of shocked by the whole thing. I dont think anybody would think this would happen here. Everyone is out here trying to do the right thing and further their lives and its just a horrible, sad tragedy." (DSU Student) "Everybody is really quiet, you know, just kind of mourning the loss. We're all a big Bluehawk family, so we just wanted to come show our support." For those people that knew the three women..this greiving process is a little more difficult. Afton's roommate Megan Farmers says it's been an emotional five days

(Megan Farmer/Afton's Roommate) "I had to help her mom move her stuff out last night. And it was just horrible, but people have been there for the families and I think they really appreciate that." (Ray McKoy/DSU Student) "I knew Kyrstin. Last week, like Friday we were laughing because she almost hit me with a softball when she was practicing and actually to hear that she is gone is like woah, I just saw her." All of the students we spoke with say the campus has banded together during this tragedy

(Megan Farmer/Afton's Roommate) "Everyone is just here to help each other., this place is really a family. Everyone's just been great." Students sold t-shirts in honor of the three women. In just 8 minutes 400 shirts had been sold

All three women played for the DSU softball team.

DSU retired their jerseys at today's memorial service.
