Hunting the RefugeNov 5 2009 7:22PM
KXMCTV Minot Once again this year, hunting is open on about 5000 acres of refuge land and you can hunt there with just a regular unit tag no special draw is needed. Gary Williams with the refuge says hunting right at the start of the season tomorrow is usually very good...with it trailing off a bit as the season progresses. He says if you need a place to hunt...give them a try...or their neighbors... (Gary Williams - Audubon National Wildlife Refuge) "We allow hunting on Audubon. We try and coordinate with the state so it is a nice compliment to hunters to get them here and do some hunting. It is a great opportunity. We also have hunting on another one of our refuges. That is a great hunt at Lake Nettie Wildlife Refuge between here and Turtle Lake. That is really a nice hunt." Williams reminds hunters that there are closed areas there as well...so make sure you know where you can and can not hunt. And when the deer-gun season comes to a close the pheasant season opens on the refuge...that is in about two and a half weeks.
