Ohio town to toast forgotten Vietnam veterans

Ohio town to toast forgotten Vietnam veterans Eds: APNewsNow. Will be led.

AP photos By JAMES HANNAH Associated Press Writer SHELBY, Ohio (AP) A small city in Ohio plans to honor Vietnam veterans with a parade of their own recognizing veterans of an unpopular war who have long been ignored.

Saturday's parade in the city of Shelby will be the latest in a recent flurry of celebrations around the country. Experts say Americans are perhaps feeling regret over how Vietnam veterans have been treated, especially since they enthusiastically salute soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Leading Shelby's procession will be a horse-drawn wagon bearing an empty, American flag-draped coffin in memory of those killed in Vietnam. At least two F-16 Air National Guard fighter jets will fly over and three high school bands will march down Main Street.
