Associated Press Majority Leader Steny Hoyer says they're "very close," although he says Saturday's scheduled vote may be delayed a day or two. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi met Friday evening with anti-abortion lawmakers offering them new concessions. In general, those members want to outlaw pregnancy-ending services under the government insurance option. Meetings have also been held with hesitant Hispanic lawmakers, and President Barack Obama has been working the phones. GOP leaders boasted that all 177 House Republicans will vote against the initiative. % |
