(AP) A judge has issued a temporary restraining order that bars the state Board of Higher education from retiring the University of North Dakota's Fighting Sioux nickname until after a hearing next month. Judge Michael Sturdevant of Bottineau ruled in a lawsuit filed by nickname supporters from the Spirit Lake reservation. (AP) City leaders from Valley City are in Devils Lake today to take a tour of the lake and talk about flood control. Devils Lake Mayor Fred Bott says he hopes it's the first of many such discussions. Bismarck, N.D. (AP) A Morton County man says the County Commission is allowing a feedlot within a quarter-mile of where he wants to build a house. Donald Hagerott is asking the North Dakota Supreme Court to overturn the County Commission's decision. A district judge earlier dismissed Hagerott's appeal.
