Hardin man faces 3 felony robbery chargesNov 10 2009 10:45PM
Associated Press BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) A third felony robbery charge has been filed against a 53-year-old Hardin man accused in a string of convenience store robberies in Billings. Jerry Covington appeared in District Court on Tuesday by video from the Yellowstone County jail and pleaded not guilty to all three counts. He was charged with two of the robberies at his arraignment last month. Covington is suspected in the Sept. 10 armed robbery of a Trading Post gas station on Mullowney Lane. He also is accused of using a handgun the next day to rob the Soco Express Station on Central Avenue and 3-G's convenience store on State Avenue. No cash was taken from the Soco station, but the robber got away with cash from 3-G's. Covington was arrested in Springfield, Ill., on Sept. 23. He remains in custody on $100,000 bail.
