Blame game...Office shooting...Blackout in BrazilNov 11 2009 12:07AM
Associated Press TUALATIN, Ore. (AP) Authorities in Oregon say an estranged husband has shot and killed his wife at a drug-testing laboratory and then killed himself. Two of the woman's co-workers were wounded. The attack happened in Tualatin (too-AH'-luh-tihn), just east of Portland. RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) The mood is festive in parts of Brazil, where the lights are back on after a massive power failure blacked out parts of Rio De Janeiro and other cities for more than two hours. Officials say a hydroelectric dam suddenly went offline. Neighboring Paraguay lost power for about 20 minutes. NEW YORK (AP) Researchers say heavy exposure to a chemical widely used in hard plastic bottles has been linked to sexual problems among male factory workers in China. Still, a researcher says people shouldn't be alarmed by the findings. Bisphenol A, or BPA, is used in a wide variety of consumer products, including some hard plastic bottles and metal food or beverage cans. NEW YORK (AP) A lawyer for the TV producer accused of trying to extort David Letterman says it was all a sales pitch for a screenplay, not a shakedown. Robert "Joe" Halderman's lawyer asked a New York court to throw out the case. Letterman's lawyer told reporters outside the court that it was "classic blackmail."
