Associated Press Drenching, wind-driven rain is moving up the East Coast and it's flooding streets, closing schools, roads and bridges in its wake. At least five people have been killed. Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine has declared a state of emergency. Rain and resulting floods are predicted to continue at least through Friday. Thousands are without power. Three motorists died in weather-related crashes in Virginia. In New York City, a surfer died after getting caught in pounding surf churned up by the storm. In North Carolina, an elderly man was killed when a wind damaged pine tree fell on him. Meanwhile, the Coast Guard has suspended a search for three commercial fishermen whose boat sank in churning seas 20 miles off the coast of New Jersey. % |
