Mozambique: Watchdog decries killings by policeNov 15 2009 6:12PM
Associated Press MAPUTO, Mozambique (AP) Amnesty International is calling for an end to deadly police violence in Mozambique. In a report released Sunday, the international human rights watch dog returned to a stubborn problem in the southeast Africa country. The report details the deaths of five people at the hands of police, saying they are representative of many more cases. Amnesty International calls on Mozambique's government to ensure cases of excessive violence by police are investigated and to better train its officers. Repeated calls by The Associated Press seeking comment from Mozambique's police minister and his deputy went unanswered. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
