Some of the world's smallest particles can some of the deadliest to our bodies so keeping them out is vital.

That is the purpose of a new rooms for Pharmacists at Trinity Health in Minot.

Perry Olson shows us how the '797 Compliant Clean Room' tries to ensure your medications are pure in this week's Eye on Health.

These pharmasists are preparing to enter the cleanest area around one of the new 'Clean Rooms' at Trinity Health...

(David Sandberg, R.Ph. - Trinity Director of Pharmacy) "The rooms are governed by a standard called 797 standard. The rules are in place to assure that all IVs are prepared in a clean place free of bacteria and particle contamination."


The precautions taken are to not only protect the patient who will be recieving the drugs but also, to keep those who prepare them safe...

(David Sandberg, R.Ph. - Trinity Director of Pharmacy) "The rooms are set up to handle the air to keep vapors off the workers who are compounding the cancer drugs..."


You can't just waltz into these areas proper steps need to be taken thouroghly washing hands putting on approved scrubs and wearing no make-up are just some of the guidlelines to follow...and if all that doesn't keep the area up to standards it is known right away...

(David Sandberg, R.Ph. - Trinity Director of Pharmacy) "And if the room pressures go out of range, then an alarm sounds and somebody has to do something to correct that."


All this is done to keep the air, surfaces, and people who work here clean to keep you from infection...
