Justice Department settles with FargoNov 16 2009 5:37PM
Associated Press Fargo, N.D. (AP) The Justice Department says the city of Fargo has agreed to make improvements to make buildings, restrooms and othe rfacilities accessible to people with disabilities. Federal officials say the agreement was reached under "Project Civic Access." The program seeks to bring state and local governments into compliance with the federal law barring discrimination against disabled people. A Justice Department statement released Monday says the city of Fargo has agreed to make its facilities more accessible, to publish a notice about the federal law and to adopt a grievance procedure for dealing with complaints. A federal audit found the city lacked compliance with some parts of the federal Americans with Disabilities Act. City officials have said most of the problems could be fixed without major cost.
