Obama: China helping...Wholesale inflation up...Iran on nuclear...Nov 17 2009 7:56AM
Associated Press BEIJING (AP) President Barack Obama says China has helped the U.S. pull out of the recession. Speaking in Beijing today, Obama and China's president pledged cooperation and an effort to move past divisive issues like human rights. Washington (AP) The government is reporting that prices at the wholesale level was up last month, but less than expected. The Labor Department says the Producer Price Index rose 0.3 percent. That was largely on higher food and energy prices. When those two are taken out of the equation, the core index dropped 0.6 percent in October. TEHRAN, Iran (AP) Iran's nuclear envoy says the U.N. inspectors' tour of its recently revealed uranium enrichment site has proven Tehran's cooperation and that its program is peaceful. But analysts offer a different view. They say the International Atomic Energy Agency report suggests the reactor might be capable of producing enough material for a warhead but too little for a civilian reactor. NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) A survey of the Group of 20 countries plus Kenya finds that world powers consider climate change the most significant challenge to humanitarian work. The survey was commissioned by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Climate change got the most unprompted mentions. HANOI, Vietnam (AP) There are signs the government of Vietnam may be blocking people's access to Facebook. The popular social networking Web site has become difficult to access over the past few weeks. Facebook has more than 1 million users in Vietnam. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press.
