His most-entertaining touchdown pass came in the fourth quarter as he fumbled the ball while scrambling, picked it up and hit Tim Toone for 44 yards. It was Toone's third touchdown catch of the day. Trevyn Smith ran for 107 yards and two touchdowns for the Wildcats (7-4). Tony Smith hit David Mahr to give the Mustangs (4-7) an early 7-0 lead. But the Wildcats answered when Higgins threw a 15-yard TD pass to Bo Bolen. Toone also caught a pair of second-quarter touchdown passes for WSU, and Mike Snoy had field goals of 30 and 19 yards. The Mustangs' Smith, who threw for 166 yards, connected on a 12-yard TD toss to Jordan Youcom to pull Cal Poly to within 38-14 in the third quarter. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press.
