NBA-LATEST SCORES Cavs clamp down...Hornets end Hawks' win streak at seven

UNDATED (AP) LeBron James scored 32 points, Mo Williams added 18 and the Cleveland Cavaliers clamped down defensively by the Philadelphia 76ers to 10 points in the fourth quarter of their 97-91 victory.

James added nine assists, seven rebounds and delivered a resounding dunk with 2:41 left that effectively put away the Sixers.

In the rest the NBA's nine-game slate: Rookie Darren Collison had 22 points and 11 assists for his first career double-double and the New Orleans Hornets won their third straight while snapping the Atlanta Hawks' seven-game winning streak, 96-88.

New Jersey's Nets have moved within four games of the NBA record for consecutive losses to start a season. A 98-91 loss to visiting New York drops them to 0-and-13. The Knicks are 3-and-9 after posting their first back-to-back wins of the season.

Following his 55-point performance last Saturday, Milwaukee rookie Brandon Jennies scored 24 of his game-high 26 in the first half of the Bucks' 103-98 win over Memphis for their third straight win.

NHL-LATEST SCORES Flames scorch Kings...Devils seeing Stars

UNDATED (AP) On NHL ice, Nathan Horton, Jordan Leopold and Steven Reinprecht scored goals and Tomas Vokoun made 32 saves as the streaking Florida Panthers beat the slumping New York Rangers 3-2.

The Panthers have won eight of 11. The Rangers have dropped four of five.

In the rest of the NHL's 13-game slate: Defenseman Stephane Robidas (ROH'-bih-dah) had two goals and two assists, rookie Tom Wandell scored the tiebreaking goal midway through the third period and Dallas Stars beat the New Jersey Devils 5-3.

David Perron scored twice, and Patrik Berglund scored his first goal in 13 games in the St. Louis Blues' 4-1 victory over the New York Islanders.

Keith Yandle scored a power-play goal with 9:41 left in the Phoenix Coyotes' 3-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers. That's the Canucks' second victory in three games.

Tuomo Ruutu (too-OH'-moh ROO'-too) and Jussi Jokinen (YOO'-see YOH'-kih-nehn) scored second-period goals, and Manny Legace (LEHG'-uh-see) made 20 saves to help the Carolina Hurricanes beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-1.

Toronto beat Washington 2-1 in a shootout. That's the Leafs' first win in six games. Phil Kessel and Niklas Hagman scored in the shootout.

Ottawa beat Buffalo 5-3. Daniel Alfredsson had two goals and an assist.

Defenseman Martin Skoula scored two goals and the Pittsburgh Penguins held off the Atlanta Thrashers, 3-2.

Detroit nipped Montreal 3-2 in a shootout. Pavel Datsyuk (PAH'-vuhl DAT'-sook) and Henrik Zetterberg scored in the shootout for the Red Wings.

The L-A. Kings dropped a 5-2 decision to Calgary. Jarome Iginla had a hat trick, upping his season total to 15.

Nashville beat Columbus 4-3 in a shootout.

Auto Racing-Nascar Kyle Busch clinches title in Nationwide finale...Johnson races for history Sunday

HOMESTEAD, Fla. (AP) Kyle Busch made it a double dose of celebration, winning the Nationwide Series championship before completing a lap and capping his night at Homestead-Miami Speedway with his ninth trip to Victory Lane.

Busch held off a hard-charging Carl Edwards to win the 300-mile race. That was somewhat fitting because the two NASCAR stars finished 1-2 in the final Nationwide standings

HOMESTEAD, Fla. (AP) Jimmie Johnson tries to drive into the NASCAR record books Sunday. The pole-sitter can win an unprecedented fourth straight NASCAR Sprint Cup driving title by finishing 25th or better in the season's final race at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Because he won the pole, if Johnson holds on and leads the first lap, he'll only have to finish 27th or better regardless of what runner-up Mark Martin does in the race.

T25 Football-LATEST SCORES 21 straight for the Gators....Alabama and Florida on collision course

UNDATED (AP) Tim Tebow (TEE'-boh) accounted for three touchdowns and top-ranked Florida ran the nation's longest current winning streak to 21 games with a 62-3 rout of Florida International. Tebow completed 17 of 25 passes for 215 yards and two touchdowns and ran seven times for 102 yards and a score.

The Gators improve to 11-and-0 for just the second time in school history and need two more wins to earn a shot at repeating as national champion. Florida finishes against Florida State and Alabama.

In other AP Top-25 action: Second-ranked Alabama breezed past Chattanooga 45-0 to get to 11-and-0 on the season. Mark Ingram ran for 102 yards and two long touchdowns in the first half. The Heisman Trophy candidate managed his sixth 100-yard effort in the last seven games despite carrying only 11 times.

No. 4 TCU routed Wyoming 45-10 for its best start in 71 years.

The win keeps the 11-and-0 Horned Frogs in the thick of BCS contention and clinches at least a share of the Mountain West Conference crown. TCU last went 11-0 in 1938, when it capped its season by beating Carnegie Tech in the national championship game.

Dexter McCluster ran for 148 yards and passed for a touchdown, and Mississippi survived a last-ditch drive by 10th-ranked LSU for a 25-23 victory. The win likely gives Ole Miss second place in the SEC West with a game left to play, and an edge over LSU when bowl bids come out.

Tenth-ranked Ohio State clinched the outright Big Ten title with a 21-10 victory against turnover-prone Michigan. Wolverines quarterback Tate Forcier (FOR'-see-ay) threw four interceptions and fumbled in his own end zone. The 10-and-2 Buckeyes ride a five-game winning streak into their Rose Bowl appearance.

Daryll Clark passed for 310 yards and four touchdowns as No.

13 Penn State wrapped up its regular season with a 42-14 rout at Michigan State. Clark moved into first place in Penn State's record book with 23 TD passes in a season and 42 in a career.

Unranked California upset 14th-ranked Stanford 34-28 to win the Big Game. Shane Vereen ran for a career-high 193 yards and three touchdowns on 42 carries as the Bears spoiled Stanford's Rose Bowl hopes.

No. 15 Iowa kept alive its slim hopes for a BCS bowl bid with a 12-0 win over Minnesota in a game that featured more punts than points. The victory gives the 10-and-2 Hawkeyes double-digit wins for the first time since 2004.

Ryan Williams ran for 120 yards and four touchdowns and helped make sure No. 16 Virginia Tech would send its 21 seniors out of Lane Stadium with a win one last time as the Hokies beat N.C. State 38-10.

Mike Kafka hit Andrew Brewer with two first-half touchdown passes in Northwestern's Northwestern 33-31 upset of No. 17 Wisconsin.

No. 18 Clemson beat Virginia 34-21 on the day it wrapped up its first trip to the Atlantic Coast Conference title game against Georgia Tech in two weeks. The Tigers won their sixth straight game.

Max Hall threw for five touchdowns and set a BYU record with his 30th career win as the No. 19 Cougars beat Air Force 38-21 to improve to 9-and-2. Hall was 33 for 45 for 377 yards while breaking the mark he shared with 1990 Heisman Trophy winner Ty Detmer.

Sean Canfield threw for 231 yards and two touchdowns, and No.

20 Oregon State beat Washington State 42-10 to keep its Rose Bowl hopes alive. Jacquizz Rodgers rushed for 165 yards and two TDs.

Eddie Wide rushed for 84 yards and two touchdowns and No. 23 Utah scored all its points in the first half and coasted to a 38-7 win over San Diego State.

Jacory Harris threw for 348 yards and two touchdowns to lead No. 21 Miami past Duke 34-16. The 8-and-3 Hurricanes scored the final 24 points to keep hope alive for their first 10-win season since 2003.

No. 24 Houston got back on track after last week's surprising loss to Central Florida and raced past Memphis 55-14. Case Keenum threw for 405 yards and five touchdowns.

Greg Paulus had 142 yards passing and Syracuse earned its first Big East victory of the season with a 31-13 upset of No. 25 Rutgers.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL-NOTRE DAME/WEIS Irish lose again

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) Cries to fire Charlie Weis are bound to grow louder following Notre Dame's third straight loss. A 33-30 double-overtime defeat at the hands of visiting Connecticut drops the Fighting Irish to 6-and-5.

Notre Dame led 14-0 early in the second quarter but didn't score another touchdown until the first overtime.

The Huskies got to 5-and-5 with their first win in four tries since the stabbing death of corner back Jasper Howard.

NFL-NEWS Holmgren expresses interest in Browns

UNDATED (AP) Former Seattle and Green Bay coach Mike Holmgren says he'd be interested in working for the Cleveland Browns.

Holmgren says on his weekly radio show on Seattle's KJR that he had not yet spoken to Browns owner Randy Lerner, who is looking for a "serious, credible" football authority to run his struggling team.

Holmgren was Seattle's GM and coach for four seasons. He stepped down as coach after last season, but the 61-year-old Holmgren says now there is "a certain appeal" to the Cleveland situation.

Elsewhere around the NFL: A team spokesman says running back Reggie Bush and defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis are not traveling with the New Orleans Saints for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay. He says both had been downgraded on the official injury report from questionable to out with knee injuries and both are expected to be back at practice next week.

T25 Basketball-FINAL SCORES

UNDATED (AP) Jay Gavin scored 20 points, Larry Sanders 17 and Virginia Commonwealth never trailed in an 82-69 upset of 17th-ranked Oklahoma. The victory spoiled the return to Richmond of Oklahoma coach Jeff Capel, who used to coach the Rams.

In other Top 25 action: With a freshman leading the way, No. 4 Kentucky dominated Rider 92-63 in the Cancun Challenge. John Wall had 21 points and 11 assists for the 4-and-0 Wildcats, who got 19 points and 18 rebounds from Patrick Patterson.

Freshman Andre Dawkins scored a season-high 20 points and No.

9 Duke matched a school record with 18 3-pointers in a 104-67 romp against Radford. Nolan Smith added 20 points and Jon Scheyer had 18 for the 4-and-0 Blue Devils.

Shelvin Mack scored 17 points and Gordon Hayward added 15, including a game-sealing free throw with 3.6 seconds left, to give No. 11 Butler a 64-60 win at Evansville.

Georgetown crushed Savannah State 63-44. Jason Clark scored and Greg Monroe chipped in with 13 to help lift the 19th-ranked Hoyas to 3-and-0.

No. 20 Louisville overcame a poor shooting performance to beat East Tennessee State 69-56. The Cardinals upped their record to 2-and-0 despite making just 36.4 percent of their shots.

Freshman D.J. Richardson scored 15 points, hitting four 3-pointers, to help No. 23 Illinois beat Presbyterian College 94-48 in the Las Vegas Invitational.

LPGA-CHAMPIONSHIP No go for women Golfers

RICHMOND, Texas (AP) Persistent rain and wet conditions washed out Saturday play at the LPGA Tour Championship. That's forced officials to cut the season-ending event to 54 holes ending on Monday. More than 1.2 inches of rain fell on The Houstonian Country Club.

Tournament leader Lorena Ochoa can win her fourth straight LPGA Player of the Year award with a win. Ochoa has not hit a shot in competition since early Thursday afternoon when she finished a first-round 66.

GOLF-DUBAI Westwood on target

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) Lee Westwood maintains his two-shot lead at the Dubai World Championships after shooting a 6-under 66 in the third round.
