Iowa CITY, Iowa (AP) Freshman James Vandenberg threw for 117 yards, and 15th-ranked Iowa kept its hopes for a BCS bowl bid alive by beating Minnesota 12-0 yesterday. Iowa and Minnesota combined for more punts than points with 17. Adam Weber was 14 of 40 for 153 yards for the Gophers.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) Mike Montgomery scored at 17:58 of the third period as Minnesota-Duluth rallied from a two-goal deficit for the second straight night to beat Minnesota 3-2 in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. Montgomery took a cross-ice pass and backhanded it off two defenders into the net for the sweep of the two-game series.

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) Brendan Smith had a goal and an assist and Wisconsin's defense gave up just 19 shots on goal as the Badgers beat St. Cloud State 4-1 last night, earning a split with the Huskies in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. Dan Dunn stopped 29 shots for the Huskies.
