high-school Magicians Open CampNov 23 2009 7:23PM
KXMCTV Minot The team returns anywhere from 2 to 5 starters from last year's team that finished 3rd in the region race and this year's team will feature a couple of different styles of play. Dean Winczewski, MHS boys basketball coach:I think we're gonna have a little bit mix of each. We have Jessie Crosby who's about 6'6 and Eric and Leif Larson, they're about 6'4 and then we have some kids that play bigger than their size. But then we do have athletic guards and I think at times we can play different styles. We're gonna do what we do, we're gonna defend the best of our ability, we're gonna try and play unselfish offensive basketball and if we do that, if we do that we feel like we got a chance. The Magicians expect a very tough west region race but point to Bismarck and Century as the teams to beat. Winczewski:You gotta look at Bismarck and Century. Always Bismarck, Century with a new coach, they have a lot of kids returning. Mandan, Jason does a great job, they have the big Kielpinski kid back, Dickinson with the Hanstead kid, very talented young man but I feel we can finish anywhere from 2 to 8 or even have a chance to win the league if we can make a commitment to be a team. The Magicians open their season December 10th at Bismarck.
