I-90 FATAL 1 dead, 2 injured after crash near Three Forks BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) The Montana Highway Patrol says a collision between a pickup truck and a semitrailer near Three Forks killed a 19-year-old University of Montana student from Helena and injured two others.

Sgt. Pat McCarthy says the pickup slid across the interstate median Sunday afternoon and collided with a semi headed in the opposite direction.

The victim was identified as Joseph Michael McKeon. Authorities say he was driving the pickup back to Missoula after attending the Bobcat-Grizzly Football game in Bozeman.

An 18-year-old woman who was riding in the truck was taken to a hospital, as was the 57-year-old man who was driving the semi.

Their names have not been released.

Authorities say speed and winter road conditions played a role in the crash, and alcohol was not a factor.

(AP) Authorities say a 22-year-old man whose van was struck by an Amtrak train between Cut Bank and Browning had been drinking before the accident.

Montana Highway Patrol Trooper James Humiston says the man was taken to a Browning hospital after the Friday evening crash and was later airlifted to a hospital in Kalispell.

The trooper says he has spoken to the victim's mother and the man seems to be doing fine.

Authorities say the van was parked too close to the tracks near a crossing on private land off of U.S. Highway 2. The train was traveling about 55 mph when the conductor applied the emergency brake.

Humiston says the Browning man's alcohol level was well above the legal limit for driving, and he could receive up to five citations.

His name has not been released.

Information from: Great Falls Tribune, http://www.greatfallstribune.com HUNTING WOLVES Montana man cited for illegal wolf kill near Lincoln BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) A Montana man has been cited for illegally taking a gray wolf after he shot one of the animals two days after the hunting season for the predators was shut down.

State officials say the man, whose name was not immediately available, killed the animal near Lewis and Clark Pass east of Lincoln on Oct. 18.

Game warden captain Mike Martin says the man had started hunting three days earlier and apparently did not know he'd done anything illegal until he called into the state's wolf hotline to report his kill. He then turned himself in.

Martin says the man should have gone to greater lengths to track the wolf season since the state had been nearing the season's quota on the animals.

The citation carries a $135 fine and potential restitution charges of up to $1,000.
