Extral Patrols this WeekendNov 25 2009 7:03PM
KXMBTV Bismarck The North Dakota Highway Patrol will be in full force this holiday weekend. Lieutenant Jody Skogen says troopers will be aggressive this holiday season as they patrol the roads. They'll be looking for speed violators, right-of-way violators, and people driving under the influence. He says its a challenging season because more people are hitting the roadways for holiday travel. (Jody Skogen/ND Highway Patrol) "And you combine it with the North Dakota weather, the unpredictable changes in the road surfaces. Today,w ea re already dealing with road conditions that are contributing to crashes. Its a time where we all need to be aware that you have to take those extra precautions in order to get to where you are going safely." Jody Skogen says its important to understand that operating a vehicle is a full time responsibility. He says speeding is the biggest holiday violation. People should remember to slow down, be alert and avoid using cruise control when the roads turn bad.
