Kenmare FireNov 25 2009 7:03PM
KXMBTV Bismarck Fire Chief Dale Hanson says the call came in about 1:30 this morning, saying Danny's Bar and Grill in downtown Kenmare was on fire. By that time, the fire was burning in the roof of the building and Hanson says firefighters were lucky to save the neighboring businesses from the flames. Kenmare firefighters were assisted by the Bowbells and Tolley departments - and fought the fire for about 3-and-a-half hours. Chief Hanson says it was dark, hard work. (Dale Hanson, Kenmare Fire Chief) "The building has been remodeled so many times there are probably two or three layers of false ceilings in there with insulation and it made it pretty tough to really get at it right away." While they saved the building itself, the damage inside was significant. And there was severe smoke damage to the Our Dollar Variety Store, adjacent to the bar and grill. Hanson says an investigation into the cause is going on, but it appears the fire was caused by an electrical problem.
