Home Depot Building Sold

The former Home Depot building in Bismarck... appears to have a new owner.

The building was part of an online auctionand that wrapped up yesterday.

Starting bids began at just under 2 million dollars. The sale ended with a final bid of almost three-point-five million.

The more than 100-thousand-square-foot building has sat empty since 2008.

Bismarck-Mandan Chamber of Commerce President, Kelvin Hullett says he would like to see that space developed again.

(Kelvin Hullett/Bismarck-Mandan Chamber of Commerce) "Anything that we could do to bring life back in to the building, create viable jobs and really just bring that whole area back around with the Home Depot building would be a tremendous thing for the community."

Hullett says the Bismarck-Mandan area is an attractive place for business owners because the local economy is staying above the fray.

(Kelvin Hullett/Bismarck-Mandan Chamber of Commerce) "So I think from a national perspective, as people look at opportunities, Bismarck Mandan is definately a location that they are looking to because as the national economy rebounds we will do even better over the next five to ten years."

If the sale goes through it will be a bargain for the buyer. The Bismarck City Assessor Office says the full market value of the land and the building is about 7-point-2 million dollars.

Matthew Reichert of the Aspen Group real estate company declined to name the high bidder, citing a confidentiality agreement. watch the video | save this article / add to your favorites list
