AP sources: Nationals agree with Kennedy, EstesFeb 5 2010 6:47PM
Associated Press By HOWARD FENDRICH AP Sports Writer Washington (AP) People familiar with the deals tell The Associated Press that free-agent second baseman Adam Kennedy and left-handed pitcher Shawn Estes have agreed to sign with the Washington Nationals. One person confirmed that Kennedy's agreement calls for him to make $1.25 million in 2010 and there is a $2 million club option for 2011. A physical is pending. A second person told the AP that Estes agreed to a minor league contract. If Estes who did not pitch in the majors last season is added to Washington's 40-man roster, he would get a $600,000, one-year contract and the chance to earn $400,000 in performance bonuses, the person said. Both people spoke on condition of anonymity Friday because the team had not yet announced either agreement. AP Sports Writer Ronald Blum in New York contributed to this report.
