Hostfest Host Gets Norway TripOct 18 2006 8:15PM
KXMCTV Minot Now, Patrice Mitchell has been rewarded by her guests, with a trip to Norway. Mitchell is a teacher at Jim Hill Middle School, and has developed a relationship with the Kentucky Riders - a musical group that often visits Hostfest from Norway. Mitchell's students often get to sing on stage with the group, and the group has performed at the school. This year, members of Kentucky Riders decided to buy Mitchell a trip to Norway for Norwegian Independence Day in May - a big day for kids in that country. (Torodd Eriksen, Kentucky Riders) "All the kids around schools, the marching bands and school marching bands, they gather down in the city in Oslo and they march up the main street up to the castle and they wave at the King and the Queen. The whole city is full of people, big party, it's a kids day." (And she'll be there?) "She'll be there to see all the kids have a big party." (That's a pretty nice thing to do) "She deserves it, she's a great person. She's our sister." Mitchell says the group called her up on stage during one of its performances this year at Hostfest to announce its plans to fly her to Norway.
