Fitterer twins doing well, despite cold symptoms

ROCHESTER, Minn. (AP) The Fitterer twins of Bismarck are doing well, despite some recent time in the pediatric intensive care unit.

Abygail and Madysen Fitterer were born in August, joined at the abdomen. They are at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, preparing for separation.

They recently came down with cold symptoms, but a note on the Caring Bridge Web site says they are doing well.

The girls are the daughters of Stacy and Suzy Fitterer of Bismarck.

In October, a medical team at Mayo began the meticulous process of stretching the girls' skin so they have enough to heal after the separation surgery.
