Rodriguez headed to death rowFeb 27 2007 12:57PM
KXMBTV Bismarck The Crookston, Minnesota man sentenced to death for the killing of U-N-D student Dru Sjodin was moved out of the Cass County Jail this morning. His official checkout time was 8:16 a-m. Chief Deputy Jim Thoreson says Rodriguez spent 1,022 days in the jail. He says that's by far the longest an inmate has spent there. A federal jury last fall convicted the 54-year-old Rodriguez of kidnapping resulting in the 2003 death of the 22-year-old Sjodin, from Pequot Lakes, Minnesota. The same jury voted unanimously for the death penalty and U-S District Judge Ralph Erickson made it official earlier this month. Rodriguez will await his execution at a federal prison in Terre Haute, Indiana.

I am proud that this crime is an example of horrible human behavior. I am proud of the legal system as well.
