Presidential campaigns, activists lobby Minn. superdelegates...Feb 11 2008 6:12PM
Associated Press Washington (AP) Both the CLinton and Obama campaigns and their supporters are aggressively lobbying Minnesota's Democratic superdelegates. The state has 14 DFL superdelegates, with two more to be elected at the state convention in June. Of the 14, five are uncommitted, six are supporting Senator Barack Obama and three are supporting Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. Nationally, the nearly 800 Democratic superdelegates could help decide the party's nominee. The lawmakers, governors and party insiders who make up the superdelegates aren't bound by the caucus and primary results. Among Minnesota's uncommitted superdelegates is Congressman Collin Peterson. He chairs the House Agriculture Committee, and says he won't make a decision until after the Farm Bill is done. (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) APNP 02-11-08 1809CST |
