Fewer state dollars for battling mosquitoesMay 10 2009 5:50AM
Associated Press ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) There's not as much money this year coming from the state of South Dakota to battle mosquitoes. State officials had warned cities not to depend too much on such grants. Aberdeen got a state grant of $25,000 in 2008. This year, the total is $800. Mark Hoven, Aberdeen's city parks superintendent, says the mosquito battle will be harder this year because there's more water. The city spent $225,000 to fight mosquitoes last year.
