Authorities release name of crash victim

Eds: APNewsNow.

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) The Montana Highway Patrol has released the name of a 41-year-old Musselshell man who died in a one-vehicle rollover between Melstone and Roundup.

Trooper Seth Cavalea says Peter J. Gannon Jr., was killed in the crash just before midnight Sunday.

Another passenger remains in intensive care at a Billings hospital with head and lung injuries and fractures to his neck, back, ribs, sternum and hand.

Cavalea says the driver left the scene of the crash, but called law enforcement Sunday morning. The results of the crash investigation will be forwarded to the Musselshell County attorney's office.

Cavalea says the driver lost control on a curve in U.S. 12, swerved back and forth and struck two reflector poles before the pickup rolled several times.

Cavalea says Gannon and the seriously injured man were wearing seat belts and had to be extracted from the pickup.
