Arson suspected in house fire during Minn. floodMay 13 2009 12:22PM
Associated Press OAKPORT TOWNSHIP, Minn. (AP) The state fire marshal's office suspects that the fire that burned a home to the ground in Oakport Township during the Red River flood was arson. The blaze happened March 27, during the height of the flood in the little town just east of Fargo, N.D. Firefighters couldn't get closer than 200 feet from the home because the area around it was flooded. Clay County Sheriff Bill Bergquist says he can't comment on the evidence because the investigation is ongoing. He says it could take several weeks before the case is solved. No one was hurt in the fire. A $2,500 reward has been offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.
