Dunn County ordered to correct rerouting of riverMay 29 2009 9:06AM
Associated Press MANNING, N.D. (AP) Dunn County has been ordered to correct any damage it caused by filling in part of the Little Knife River northwest of Manning for a road project. State's Attorney Ross Sundeen says county officials did not realize they needed a permit before changing the river. He says the county will work with an engineer to fix the problem. A spokeswoman for the federal Environmental Protection Agency, Laura Niles, says the county could be fined if it does not comply with the EPA order. The county was given notice last fall that it had violated the federal Clean Water Act by filling in 1,300 feet of the river so it could straighten and realign two county roads.
