UGF cross country signs Alaska runner

Eds: APNewsNow.

GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) University of Great Falls track and field and cross country coach Jim Brewer has announced the signing of Travis Price of Seward, Alaska.

Price was the 2009 champion in the 400 meters, 800 meters, long jump and triple jump at the Alaska State 3A meet this spring.

During 2008, Price was the state champion in the 800 meters and the triple jump, while finishing second in the 400 meters.

His personal best efforts are 49.82 seconds in the 400, 1:57 in the 800, 41 feet, 9 inches in the triple jump and 20 feet in the long jump.

Brewer says Price will also compete in cross country for UGF. He calls Price an all-around gifted athlete and notes his 400-meter time is less than a second from the NAIA national provisional qualifying mark.
