Clarence Burcham is being held in the Mercer County jail.

Today he's charged with fugitive from justice in Oliver County.

Oliver County authorities arrested Burcham on a Clay county warrant for murder yesterday.

Today he told Judge Bob Wefald he will fight extradition.

Now North Dakota governor John Hoeven will he'll decide if Burcham should be extradited.

Authorities say Burcham confessed to the murder of 26 year old Sharon Stafford in Moorhead.

The 44 year old Burcham was Stafford's friend and neighbor.

Authorities say Burcham confessed to punching Stafford in the face, raping and killing her.

Bond is set at 100-thousand dollars cash. If he posts bondhe can't leave Mercer of Oliver Counties.
