DAC allows Minot State to competeJun 23 2009 8:46PM
Associated Press Bismarck, N.D. (AP) Presidents of the Dakota Athletic Conference have decided Minot State University can compete for postseason tournaments and awards while it's exploring a jump from the NAIA to NCAA Division II. Athletic directors had recommended that any school being considered for membership in another league outside the NAIA be required to forfeit its eligibility for titles and awards. DAC Commissioner Lavern Jessen says the league constitution has no language covering that situation. He says Minot will be a full member for the next two years, or until the school sends a letter announcing it will withdraw from the DAC. The league meeting was Tuesday in Bismarck. The other DAC schools are Dickinson State, Jamestown College, Mayville State and Valley City State in North Dakota and Black Hills State, Dakota State and South Dakota Tech in South Dakota.
