Somers man arrested on suspicion of shooting son

Eds: APNewsNow.

KALISPELL, Mont. (AP) Authorities say a 52-year-old Somers man has been arrested on suspicion of shooting his 18-year-old son in the stomach during an argument.

The Flathead County Sheriff's office says deputies responded to a call from a home northeast of the city just after noon Tuesday and arrested Timothy Withrow. He remains jailed pending formal charges from the county attorney's office.

Withrow's son, whose name has not been released, was taken to a Kalispell hospital and is listed in critical condition. An emergency room supervisor told television station KCFW the victim would be flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after emergency surgery.
